DH and I planned Christmas out better than any other year.
I sewed and wrapped and shopped and wrapped and wrote lists and cooked.
And in the last 72 hours before Christmas it all started to unravel with the girls getting sick.
It took a lot for both DH and not to feel kind of destroyed by the whole week of Christmas, but we learned a valuable lessons - the lead up HAS to be as fun as the what you are leading up to.
We are pretty good at that, but it was a busier December than usual.
My favorite moments from December:
Making pizzas for one of our special Sunday Advent dinners.
Waiting in line for Santa.
The girls were really taken with Santa.
We had to mostly skip the Christmas Eve festivities, but the girls still opened their Christmas jammies and loved them.
I caught J. organizing a dance party in her room several times.
Yes, that's A. getting major air off the bed.
Sledding. It was cold, but oh so fun.
A. and I took the little tube down the hill and were probably going 15 miles an hour - crazy fast on a sled. We also beat everyone else's sled tracks by 30-50 feet.
I made a new magic hot cocoa recipe that everyone LOVED.
All three girls got "zewing" kits for Christmas and LOVED them.
Heading back to school tomorrow.
C. said it best, "Mom, I don't want to go to school. Sometimes its scary and hard and I just want to stay at home with you all day."
Yep. Me too.

Love it! You made the best out of a tough holiday season! C totally has it right! Love that girl!
ReplyDeleteSick over Christmas was terrible!! But you're right...the lead up can't be crazy otherwise missing the payoff extra stinks!
ReplyDeleteWhat are zewing kits? I think I have some girls who would like those a lot!!!
